Summer Celebration Ball raises £4k for BTRS

Mon 14 September

Janet Graves annual Summer Celebration ball is a success for a second year, raising £4,000 for BTRS.
The Graves family had a heartbreaking year in 2013 when they lost their beloved son, husband and father Dr Alastair Graves to a brain tumour at the age of 52.
Following this tragedy, the Graves family, supported by friends and local groups have worked extremely hard to create a lasting legacy for Alastair, through raising funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS).
Alongside extensive support from the local community, Janet Graves, Alastair's wife organised and hosted her first charity Summer Celebration Ball back in September 2014. Following the huge success of this event, Janet decided to make the ball an annual affair.
This year's ball took place once again at the Old Bell in Barnby Moor on 4 September and once again was a fantastic success for the charity, raising £4,000 to help to continue the vital research and support work needed in overcoming the effects of brain tumours across the Yorkshire region.
Janet said 'Family and friends gathered together to enjoy a ‘Celebration Ball in memory of my dear husband, Alastair Graves, who died in April 2013 of a high grade brain tumour. Despite our tragic loss, we have continued to benefit from the love and support of our family and friends, with Alastair as our common link. Life does go on, it is just different from what we had perhaps hoped for. However through financial charitable support we can continue to achieve something great for those who still need support and further research to eradicate this terrible disease. A huge thanks to all that supported in any way, making the event truly memorable and supportive to us as a family.'
The Graves family and all of their supporters have already raised over £18,000 for BTRS, which is a truly incredible achievement.
The Summer Celebration ball date has already been set for next year - Saturday 1st October 2016 at the same venue. For further details please contact Janet Graves on
