pet food pouch recycling in Yorkshire

Pet food pouch recycling

Ellie's fund accepts a variety of pet food pouches for recycling including:
  • All brands of wet pet food pouches
  • All brands of pet treats flexible packaging and pouches
  • All dry pet food flexible plastic packaging
For us to benefit, pet food pouches must be fully empty. If you choose to wash them out make sure they are fully dry before you send them.

You need to collect at least 500g of empty pet food packaging before these can be posted which is at least 27 large bags or 180-200 small pouches (not including packaging).

If you collect less than 500g of pet food pouches take a look at our different drop-off points throughout the UK here if you're further afield.

If you collect 500g or more, please parcel them up and email recycling@elliesfund.com to get hold of a free postage label.

What happens to pet food pouches when they are recycled?

Once collected, the aggregated plastic pet food packaging is sorted, shredded and washed. Food residue is composted and the material is then densified into hard-granulated plastic granules. The granules are then extruded so they can be incorporated into the production of different plastic products such as fence posts and benches.
