Brain Tumour Charities take part in the Scafell Pike Challenge in support of Ellie's Fund - Brain Tumour Trust.
On Sunday 3rd May 2015 Rachel Finlay, from BTRS, and Paula Holmes, from The Katie Holmes Trust, joined Heather Othick and a team of 20 walkers to climb to the summit of England's highest peak Scafell Pike for Ellie's Fund - Brain Tumour Trust.

Setting of at 10am the team battled grim conditions in the knowledge that the challenge could be called off had the weather conditions deteriorated. The persistent rain, cold and at times limited visibility made the challenge much tougher than expected. However, guided by the fantastic Nathan, Paul and Steve from Life Changing Challenges the team pressed on and reached the summit at approximately 2pm.

Rachel from BTRS said "I had trained for the challenge and knew it was going to hard. It was tough to get going when faced with such difficult weather conditions and in the knowledge that we might not be able to summit. However, the Life Changing Challenges guys were so professional and made a real team out of us. We all worked together and were safe in the knowledge that the guides had our safety at the forefront of their minds. By having this team ethic in place from the start we were confident to keep on going and achieve our target."

Arriving back at the car park at 6pm the team had their picture taken all wearing their Ellie's Fund t-shirts. During the challenge Rachel, Paula and Heather all talked about how pleased they were to be supporting each other and how charities working together in this way is so fantastic. BTRS are proud of our working relationships with other charities and would encourage more charities to adopt this approach.

On the 21st June 2015 everyone is invited to represent a brain tumour charity close to their heart at the Mid-Summer Memories Walk. Open to all ages and abilities the walk be up Mount Snowdon, in Wales, with the option to catch the train if you would prefer.
