Fri 14 November

On Saturday 1st November members of the Settle United Football Club presented a cheque for £1,000 to local charity Jack's Journey.
Ryan Dunn, Matthew Cardus, Ben Phillip, Dan Fox, Mathew Bainse, Adam Smith, Danny Bathers, Trevor Jones, Russell East, Paul Ambrose, Mick Mounsey, Elliot Firth, Craig Porter, George Gowland, Dan Mellor and Lee Walker cycled the entire Leeds to Liverpool Canal, all 130 miles of it and they did it in just 16 and a half hours! The cycling Settle footballers were met with cheers at Gargrave from a crowd of family and friends.

Settle United Football Club would like to thank 3Peaks cycles for loaning the bikes, J W Garnett (Go Electrical) who kindly provided the back up vehicle and their back up crew :- Wayne Dunn, Emma porter, Laura Mounsey, Sam Porter and Jodie Bolland..

Jack's Journey has now raised over £41,000 - thank you to everyone who has supported them and raised such an amazing total!  Thank you too to all the team involved and your amazing hard work!

Jack's Journey was set up when Jack Lambert was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour at 20 months old. In 2012 Jack's mum Jen and 3 of her close friends decided to raise funds and awareness for Yorkshire based charity Brain Tumour Research and Support (BTRS) having found out that brain cancer is massively underfunded, with less than 1% raised nationally for cancer research being devoted to brain cancer research yet it has the highest mortality rate of all cancers of those aged under 40.
