Michael Bank's team of walkers complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks

Thu 21 April

A team from Stanningley Rugby Club took on this enormous challenge on 2/4.
Michael Banks and a team of walkers from Stanningley Rugby Club completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 2/4/16 in horrendous weather conditions.  A team of 31 set out and 24 completed the walk as sadly several were injured.  The team has so far raised an amazing £1,785.00 through Just Giving, who will be adding an additional £346.25 to the total as we can claim back the tax with Gift Aid.
The team chose BTRS as one of Stanningley Rugby Club ex-players and good friend of the team, Phillip Whartley, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour. Phil had talked about the support BTRS had provided and therefore the team decided to do this walk to raise funds & also awareness of BTRS.

The team were also raising money for CICRA (Children with Crohns & Colitis).

Michael said  “We had a tough time on the 3 peaks as the weather was horrendous. Out of the 31 walkers we had 24 complete it (including 1 guy who ran it in 5 hrs.!) and 7 pull out through injury (including myself) due to slips/twisted ankles etc. Nothing too serious though thankfully".

Thank you to everyone who took part in such awful weather conditions and all those who sponsored the team.
