Josh overcomes injury to raise over £1,500 for BTRS

Wed 31 October

On September 29th Joshua Bywater took on the National Three Peaks Challenge in memory of close family member Andrew Shearman.

As if the task of climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in one day wasn't daunting enough, Josh tore a knee liagment four months before embarking on the journey so was still carrying an injury.

Not to be deterred, he was one of only four people that completed all three peaks in his group, and he finished with the joint best time of the day, from 50 people.

Altogether he has raised £1,508 for our cause, with match funding to come from his employers, Morgan Stanley.

Here's what Josh had to say before he embarked on his journey:

"I will be doing the trek in loving memory of Andrew Shearman, a close family member who passed away in March 2015, aged 52.

"Andrew was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 and was given a terminal diagnosis with only six months to live. But, due to his own determination and with the help and support of BTRS, he was blessed with three and half further years of enjoyable life.

"This window of time enabled him to spend vital extra moments with his wife and family whilst still maintaining his dignity and quality of life throughout.

"Andrew is a huge inspiration to me personally and he never let his prognosis affect his outlook on life or his attitude towards other people. He continually defied the odds, continuing to raise money by cycling across the country for BTRS."
